I have some problems with the article, because it assumes that being alone is something that is never desirable. I agree that there are times when loneliness is unhealthy. However, I need alone time to improve my mental health and to be creative. My social isolation is often by choice, because being with other people takes away from my mental energy. The article gives a list of suggestions how to prevent or treat loneliness, as if it were an infectious disease to be avoided at all costs. I don’t think it is a bad thing to be a loner sometimes.

I agree 100%. I often need time alone for exactly the same. However, I must be careful because I can fall into bad isolation spells way too easily.
For me, it’s a balancing act, and Bipolar, almost by its very definition, is not often a balanced issue.
